Kateřina Hošová
Community Manager and Software Engineer with a great passion for oriental belly dancing
Can you tell us a bit about your role as a Community Manager and what you enjoy most about it?
As a Community Manager, I enjoy creating a friendly and safe space where people can share their knowledge in a more casual way during internal meetups. These meetups not only foster networking but also allow individuals to share their problems and find solutions together, both in-person and online. I particularly like helping community leads come up with new ideas for activities, such as workshops or coding challenges, and assisting them in bringing these ideas to life.
How did you get into oriental belly dancing, and how does this unique hobby influence your work or interactions within the software engineering community?
I have been dancing for most of my life, more than 16 years. Oriental belly dancing allows me to take things easy and take a step back when evaluating various situations. Since I’ve been performing in front of audiences for a couple of years, it helps me avoid stage fright and feel more confident while giving speeches in front of people. It’s a unique hobby, but the uniqueness is what makes us all stand out from the crowd.

What are your main responsibilities as community lead, and what excites you most about your work?
In my role as a Technical Lead and JavaScript Community of Practice Lead, I focus on fostering collaboration and supporting team members by facilitating engaging discussions, sharing knowledge, and addressing any concerns with higher management. What excites me most is the opportunity to empower others to tackle challenges and create a relaxed, inclusive environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.
As a Star Trek fan and filmmaker, how do these passions reflect in your professional life?
My passion for Star Trek keeps me optimistic and creative at work, while my filmmaking experience helps me stay versatile and manage my time effectively. I use my diverse skills in both my technical role and creative projects, like developing tools and resources for our filmmaking group.
Yaman Ktish
Senior Full-Stack Developer who sees the world through his camera lens
Can you describe your significant achievement in MSD as a senior software developer and what made it successful?
As a senior full-stack developer at MSD, I’ve had the privilege of leading the development of a cutting-edge Generative AI product. What made this achievement particularly rewarding was the freedom to contribute across the stack—from crafting intuitive user interfaces to architecting robust back-end systems. Beyond coding, I collaborate closely with product managers, UX teams, and stakeholders, embracing a flexible and creative approach to problem-solving. Beyond project work, I’ve contributed by creating tools and reusable components, and sharing knowledge as a speaker at meetups, fostering collaboration and innovation.
How does passion for photography enhance your work or the community spirit at MSD?
Photography, particularly street photography, has been a creative outlet that deeply influences my work at MSD. The art of capturing spontaneous, real-life moments sharpens my ability to see details and think creatively—skills that translate into collaborating with UX teams and shaping innovative product designs. Filmmaking, an extension of this hobby, has also boosted my confidence as a speaker and communicator, whether presenting ideas or contributing to marketing campaigns.
